The relay board provides voltage to many components of the air conditioner including the fan motor.
American standard fan not working.
Is your ac fan not working or spinning.
This will reset any lockout issues on your furnace.
Check the pilot light.
A non running fan can be one of three things.
No indoor fan fan not running fan not blowing no airflow.
Move your hand around the american standard furnace to see if there is any air circulating.
Turn the power for your american standard furnace on and off twice in 30 seconds.
Was any work done on your fuel or electricity lines recently.
First make sure there is power to the indoor unit and that a switch or breaker isn t off.
If this keeps occurring you will need to contact your dealer or a repairman.
If this air is not cool it is likely that the coils on your furnace have frozen.
We will go over a few things to check before calling for service.
Check your furnace blower fan.
1 bad fan motor 2 bad capacitor 3 bad control board or fan relay if a separate relay is involved.
If so then the fan not coming on will trigger a high temp cut out switch.
After ruling out all of the simple problems above the most likely cause of a furnace not blowing air is a problem with the blower fan itself which if you remember is the fan that circulates your house s air over the heated coils.
Open and close the blower door.
The purpose of the fan center relay is to provide a low voltage control 24 volts to control a relay that can be used to control two speed blower motors and auxiliary circuits in heating or cooling equipment many of the newer furnaces do not have fan center relays but many of the older furnaces and some new furnaces still do.
If this door is not secure or is missing the unit may not run appropriately.
Check the blower door.
Turn the unit off and allow the line to thaw.
If the relay board isn t working properly the fan might not run.
Stopping the furnace and the third attempt will show up in the blinking light.
Purpose of the fan center relay.
No heat insufficient heat.
Check to see if your gas or electricity has been turned off.
It s possible that it is simply not getting power or that the capacitor is dead but the condenser fan motor itself is.
Before replacing the board make sure you check more commonly defective parts particularly the fan motor capacitor and the fan motor itself.
Check that your thermostat is set to cooling or heating mode and not set to off make sure the thermostat is set to the right setting and temperature.
